ECB Updates Q&A on AnaCredit Regulation in January 2020

    January 31, 2020

ECB added 23 questions and answers (Q&A) on AnaCredit Regulation. The Q&A offer general clarifications, in addition to addressing key topics such as AnaCredit validation checks, protection items in AnaCredit, instruments in the scope of AnaCredit, extended quarter-end reporting, and LEI and national identifiers. The update also answers queries in relation to written-off loans, accounting classification of instruments, structured products and repurchase agreements, securitized loans, credit cross-limit structures and multi-debtor/product structures, accumulated changes in fair value due to credit risk, counterparty reference data, special categories of counterparties, leasing products, and nonperforming or defaulted or impaired instruments.

The Q&A form part of the AnaCredit Reporting Manual and they extend and complement the clarifications provided in the manual. The AnaCredit reporting manual has three parts covering general methodology, datasets and data attributes, and case studies. The annexes provide additional information relevant for reporting agents, such as lists of country-specific national identifiers and legal forms, in addition to the examples of complete data reports concerning stylized instruments. ECB had, in May 2016, approved the AnaCredit regulation (EU Regulation 2016/867), which involves collection of granular credit and credit risk data based on the harmonized ECB statistical reporting requirements.
