Bundesbank on Reporting Scheme for Statistics on Securities Investment
Bundesbank published the reporting scheme for statistics on securities investments (sector data). Securities investment statistics collect securities holder information about sector and group data. The reporting of sector data must be done by the close of business on the 6th business day after the end of each month while the reporting of group data must be done by the close of business on the 8th business day.
The subject of the sector data collection is securities accounts that are maintained by the reporting institutions for domestic and foreign depositors (depository B business). In addition, domestic banks have to report their own securities holdings (custody transaction A), regardless of where the securities are kept. As of the end of the month, the survey is carried out on the basis of a securities-by-securities reporting system. The reports include marketable bonds and debentures, marketable money market paper, shares, participation certificates, and investment certificates—broken down according to the economic sectors and countries of origin of the customers. In addition, the number of customer deposits is recorded according to the respective economic sectors.
