ESMA Publishes its Annual Report for 2017
ESMA published its annual report for 2017, which details objectives, activities, and key achievements of ESMA during the year. In 2017, ESMA continued to make progress in its mission of enhancing investor protection and promoting stable and orderly financial markets.
ESMA focused on delivering the key priorities that had been agreed in its 2017 annual work program. The report contains details about the work and achievements of ESMA under each of the following key activities:
- Supervisory convergence related to implementation of Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and Regulation (MiFIR)
- Assessing risks to investors, markets, and financial stability, with the focus on data quality
- Completing Single Rulebook for EU financial markets with respect to Benchmarks and Capital Markets Union
- Direct supervision of credit rating agencies and trade repositories and their ancillary activities
