SBIF Releases Technical Note on Fintech
SBIF published a technical note on financial technology in the context of banking regulations and financial stability. The note states that the growth of fintech activities represents a challenge for both regulators and the financial industry. The note emphasizes that digitalization not only generates expectations about gains in economic efficiency but it also involves the greater relevance of certain risks that regulation must face, without impeding development and innovation.
The RegTech, the SupTech, and the Sandbox Regulatory models are a reflection of an industry that seeks new spaces of development and regulatory convergence. In Chile, these matters have a guaranteed space in the regulatory agenda for the coming years. This is part of a series of technical notes, as SBIF aims to contribute brief articles to the debate on relevant issues for financial stability and banking regulation.
