Dubai FSA Updates Sourcebook Module on Application Forms and Notices

    September 01, 2018

Dubai FSA updated the Application Forms and Notices (AFN) Module of its Sourcebook for financial institutions. The module provides information related to the Core Information form, various Fund forms, the Representative Office form, the Credit Rating Agency form, and any applicable supplements. The appropriate forms and supplements must be submitted by entities if they wish to carry on one or more Financial Services in, or from, the Dubai International Financial Center.

The forms and supplements are designed to assist an entity to provide DFSA with information about the Financial Services for which it are seeking a license and to help DFSA understand how the entity intends to carry on those activities. An entity (referred to as "you" in the module) will need to satisfy DFSA that it has sufficient financial resources, appropriate personnel, adequate systems, and internal controls to carry out the proposed Financial Services. Each person seeking status as an Authorized Individual should complete the AUT- IND 1 forms. An Authorized Firm wishing to vary its current license should complete Form SUP 4 and any applicable supplements. An entity may be required to complete more than one form and supplement depending on the nature of the Financial Services it wants to carry out.

Financial Services have been defined in the General (GEN) module of the DFSA Rulebook. The GEN module (chapter 2) outlines which business activities fall within the definition of Financial Services and enables to check whether there are any exemptions or prohibitions that may be relevant to the application. The GEN module (chapter 7) also sets out the authorization requirements of DFSA.
