Moody’s Analytics Earns Double Award Recognition For Climate Risk Expertise

    NEWS | For Immediate Release

LONDON, October 29, 2021  Moody’s Analytics has won the Climate Risk Initiative of the Year category in the 2021 Insurance Asset Risk Awards – America. The award recognizes companies at the forefront of developing solutions to help insurers effectively measure and manage their exposure to climate risk.

The Moody’s Analytics Climate Pathway Scenario Service is built on our award-winning scenario generation software for quantifying the financial impact from physical and transition risk. The service helps insurers meet Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements by powering their asset and liability projections. The scenarios can also support integration of climate risk into strategic asset allocation (SAA) and investment selection processes.

In addition to winning the Climate Risk Initiative of the Year category, Dr. Nick Jessop, Senior Director and Head of Scenario Modeling Research at Moody’s Analytics, was nominated and included on this year’s InsuranceERM Most Influential on Climate Change list. The list recognizes the individuals who are contributing the most to help the insurance sector respond to climate risk.

A scenario modeling expert, risk management specialist, and quantitative financial modeler, Dr. Jessop leads a team of quantitative analysts, economists, and financial engineers focused on researching risk management solutions for insurers.

“Nick has been instrumental to Moody’s Analytics efforts to develop climate solutions to help insurers understand the potential risks and uncertainties associated with climate risk,” said Colin Holmes, General Manager of Insurance Solutions at Moody’s Analytics.
