QFCRA Issues Netting Regulations in 2017
The Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) issued netting regulations in 2017. These regulations come into force on the date on which the Minister of Finance signs them.
In case of conflict or variance between the provisions of these regulations and any provisions in any other regulations in force in the Qatar Financial Center, the provisions of these regulations take precedence. This guideline explains definitions of related terms and describes in detail the qualified financial instruments. It also covers, among others, the enforceability of netting agreements, enforceability of qualified financial instruments that are gambling contracts, and enforceability of qualified financial instruments that were formerly thought to be Shari’a-compliant.
