ESMA Updates Q&A on Benchmarks Regulation in EU
ESMA updated the set of Questions and Answers (Q&A) on the implementation of Benchmarks Regulation in EU. The Q&A provide clarifications on the regulatory provisions regarding critical benchmarks. The Benchmarks Regulation covers indices used as benchmarks in financial instruments and financial contracts or to measure the performance of investment funds.
The purpose of this Q&A document is to promote common supervisory approaches and practices in the application of the Benchmarks Regulation. It provides responses to questions posed by the public, market participants, and competent authorities in relation to the practical application of the Benchmarks Regulation. The Q&A document is intended to ensure that the supervisory activities are aligned with the common practices set out in the responses adopted by ESMA. The Q&A also provides guidance to market participants on requirements of the Benchmarks Regulation.
