EC Issues Notices to Prepare Financial Service Stakeholders for Brexit
EC issued notices to prepare stakeholders for the exit of the UK from the EU. Notices were issued on the withdrawal of the UK and EU rules in the field of markets in financial instruments, banking and payment services, post-trade financial services, asset management, credit rating agencies, insurance or reinsurance, and statutory audit. The notices set out the consequences of the UK withdrawal for banking and finance rules.
The UK, on March 29, 2017, submitted notification of its intention to withdraw from EU, pursuant to Article 50 of the Treaty on EU. When the UK becomes a third country, all EU primary and secondary law will cease to apply. These notices aim to prepare stakeholders for this event.
