JFSA to Set Up Subcommittee on ESG Data Issues
The Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA) decided to set up a "specialized subcommittee on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) evaluation and data providers, following the release of a report on sustainable finance in June 2021. The report highlighted that the importance of ESG evaluations and data providers is increasing as ESG investment expands. The report also noted that a broad discussion needs to be held on appropriate corporate disclosures on sustainability, also highlighting the importance of this dialog among investors and financial institutions. The June 2021 report was published by Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance, which was the JFSA established in December 2020.
