ESMA Updates XML Schema and Instructions for Securitization Reporting

    December 20, 2019

ESMA published the updated reporting instructions and XML schema for the templates set out in the technical standards on disclosure requirements. In addition, the securitization policy section on ESMA website has been updated, with information about the recent technical standards that have been published on the EC website. ESMA also published the updated ISO 20022 XML Schema to be used for reporting under the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation or SFTR.

The XML schema and instructions for securitization reporting were initially published on July 17, 2019 in advance of the draft disclosure technical standards being adopted by EC to assist affected entities in preparing for their entry into force. The updates to the XML schema and reporting instructions for securitization reporting reflect certain adjustments made to ensure alignment with the final disclosure technical standards as published by EC on October 16, 2019 as well as feedback provided by stakeholders since July. The changes in reporting instructions include clarification of the unique identification of the asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) and non-ABCP securitizations and removal of the report unique identifier to only include new ReportType element for the Investor report and the Inside Information/Significant Event Report. ReportType will be used to cancel separately each of these reports. The updated XML schema applies final regulatory technical standard amendments on unique identifiers, Field codes value, and Content to report description, along with the amendments related to the Report unique identifier, incorrect ND4 structure, and parent and child tags called similarly. The XML Schema updates also fix the naming inconsistency issues.
