ACPR Sets Out Lists of Systemically Important Institutions in France
The French Prudential Supervisory Authority (ACPR) published the list of the global systemically important institutions (G-SIIs or EISm), along with a list of the other systemically important institutions (O-SIIs or A-EIS) in France. The lists provide information on the capital buffers applicable to systemically important institutions from January 01, 2022. The G-SIIs on the list are BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Groupe Crédit Agricole, and Groupe BPCE (all four G-SIIs are O-SIIs too) while the O-SIIs are BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Groupe Crédit Agricole, Groupe BPCE, Groupe Crédit Mutuel, HSBC Contienta L Europe, and La Banque Postale.
For the banking sector in France, ACPR determines the names of G-SIIs and O-SIIs, along with the associated capital buffers. With respect to the determination of G-SIIs, ACPR actively participates in the international identification exercise coordinated by the asel Committee on Banking Supervision. For O-SIIs, the European Banking Authority (EBA) guidelines specify the principles of the Basel methodology within the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD) IV.
