BoE Announces Date for Publication of Stress Test Results for Banks
BoE announced its plans to publish results of the full UK annual stress tests on December 10, 2019. No results for individual firms will be published prior to this date. BoE has received the initial stress-testing submissions by banks and is in the process of analyzing the results. The full annual stress test results will be published along with the Financial Stability Report.
On March 05, 2019, BoE published details of the 2019 annual cyclical scenario (ACS) for the seven major UK banks and building societies. The scenario was agreed by the Financial Policy Committee and the Prudential Regulation Committee. The 2019 ACS assesses the resilience of the UK banking system to deep simultaneous recessions in the UK and global economies, large falls in asset prices, and a separate stress of misconduct costs. The stress incorporated in the ACS is not a forecast. In March 2019, BoE announced the names of seven banks and building societies participating in the 2019 test: Barclays plc, HSBC Holdings plc, Lloyds Banking Group plc, Nationwide Building Society, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc, Santander UK plc, and Standard Chartered plc.
