ECB Publishes Selected Pillar 3 Information for 2020 Reference Date

    November 05, 2021

The European Central Bank (ECB) published selected Pillar 3 information for the end of 2020 reference date. In particular, ECB published “Templates 1, 2, and 3” of the disclosure templates covering information on exposures subject to legislative and non-legislative moratoria and on newly originated exposures subject to public guarantee schemes pursuant to the European Banking Authority (EBA) guidelines on reporting and disclosure of exposures subject to the measures applied in response to the COVID-19 crisis (EBA/GL/2020/07). The publication also includes bank-specific comments following a reconciliation exercise between the selected disclosures and regulatory reporting data.

The ECB exercise for the end of 2020 reference date resulted in improvements in consistency between the selected Pillar 3 information and regulatory reporting. As an indication of this, in 2021, 35 significant institutions under European banking supervision re-published their Pillar 3 reports with corrections to the disclosed data. The remaining mismatches between the two frameworks have been flagged accordingly. Along with the selected templates on the Pillar 3 disclosure requirements, the document on selected Pillar 3 information also includes information for individual banks on solvency and leverage ratios as published by the significant institutions pursuant to Part Eight of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR).
