SBV Proposes to Develop Law on Bad Debt Resolution
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) is collecting opinion from organizations and individuals on the proposal to develop a Law on handling of bad debt of credit institutions. SBV published a draft report that summarizes the implementation of Resolution No. 42/2017/QH14 on handling bad debt settlement of credit institutions. The report shows that formulation and implementation of Resolution No. 42/2017/QH14 has overcome shortcomings and limitations in bad debt handling, created a unified legal framework on bad debt handling, removed difficulties and obstacles, and supported credit institutions in effectively handling and ending bad debt. The report highlights the difficulties and inadequacies in handling of bad debt related to certain provisions of the Resolution. Along with this report, SBV has published an impact assessment report on the proposed policy on elaboration of laws on bad debt handling of credit institutions.
