BoE Updates Statistical Reporting Requirements for Banks

    August 15, 2022

The Bank of England (BoE) published three Statistical Notices (2022/16, 2022/16, and 2022/17) on statistical reporting requirements for banks.

Below are the key highlights of these recent updates:

    • Statistical Notice 2022/15 sets out that the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment will be open for testing the Statistical Taxonomy on Bank of England Electronic Data Submission (BEEDS) portal, from September 01, 2022 to September 30, 2022. The accounts for previously nominated principal users will be created and there is no need to opt in to the testing environment. An updated version of the Utility Tool could also be found on the BEEDS portal.
    • Statistical Notice 2022/16 includes the reporting schedule for statistical returns for 2023. In this document, the information on "Reporting Thresholds for Statistical Returns" has been updated with data point references: tables, rows, and columns. No other changes have been made to this document.
    • Statistical Notice 2022/17 informs that the BoE Data and Statistics Division published version 1.3.0 public working draft (PWD) of the Bank of England Statistics taxonomy. The taxonomy has been updated to include the longstanding Excel-based collection Form IPA. Accompanying this release, the reporting requirements outlined in the Form IPA definitions include the taxonomy, data point model (DPM) dictionary, annotated templates and validation rules. The data point model is an extension of the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) data point model and filings will be subject to the EBA filing rules as published on the reporting frameworks. BoE seeks comments, until September 09, 2022, on the PWD technical artefacts from firms and software vendors. By mid-October, BoE aims to publish the final version of the taxonomy and DPM as well as indicate the date of first reporting via Statistical Notice.
