GLEIF Introduces Enhanced Functionalities in LEI Search Tool

    August 03, 2020

GLEIF introduced new and enhanced functionalities in the form of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) Search Tool 2.0. The enhanced functionalities include the option to identify corporate ownership structures or pinpoint other identifiers that have been mapped to an LEI along with the option to view historical changes to any data field of an LEI since February 09, 2018. The tool also offers an "expert mode" that enables users to configure and combine their own search filters to facilitate the design of complex queries. In addition, GLEIF published a write-up on the role of LEI in the EC legislative reforms on anti-money laundering/combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CTF).

The LEI offers market participants a standardized, one-stop approach to entity verification in the digital age, facilitating quick, consistent, and accurate information on both client organizations and other business partners and suppliers. The new beta version of the LEI search tool 2.0 makes it even easier to take full advantage of the publicly available LEI data supporting more use cases and applications. Using the tool, market participants can explore information on organizations globally contained within the Global LEI Index. With the launch of its LEI search tool 2.0, GLEIF has introduced additional features, including:

    • New user interface supporting quick and customized research
    • Easily identifiable ownership information
    • Other identifiers mapped to the LEI automatically showing with search results
    • Information included in code lists published by GLEIF is resolved to human readable names
    • Changes to any data field of a LEI are now displayed in a historic view

GLEIF will keep supporting the LEI Search 1.0 for a transitional period until the end of the year 2020, to give enough time for LEI data user and market participants to switch to the new, enhanced LEI Search 2.0 in their daily use or applications.
